Create a realistic high-resolution image of a black woman sitting comfortably in a serene, softly lit room, deeply engaged in reading her Bible. The composition should focus solely on her as the subject, with the background featuring gentle, muted colors that evoke a peaceful atmosphere, such as soft beige or light pastel tones. She should be seated in a cozy armchair, perhaps with a warm throw draped over one arm. A small side table next to her holds a steaming cup of tea and a few personal items, like a j

Hey everyone! Today, I’m sharing a bit about my spiritual journey and how diving deeper into the Word of God has been transforming my life.

Recently, I’ve been reflecting on Psalm 119:11:

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

Let’s unpack what this means and why it matters.

Hiding the Word in Our Hearts

Four words really stood out to me: word, hidden, heart, and sin.

Psalm 119:11 isn’t just about reading the Bible—it’s about letting God’s revelations take root deep within us. Scripture is our anchor. As 1 Thessalonians 5:21 reminds us: “Test all things; hold fast what is good.”

Our hearts and minds are more connected than we realize. The heart isn’t only about emotions—it’s also a place where thinking and decision-making happen. When we meditate on the Word, it settles into our hearts and becomes a part of us.

Why We Need a Defense System Against Sin

This verse also reminds us that God’s Word protects us from sin.

In a recent video, I shared about the importance of renewing the mind. God showed me that I need to do a better job of memorizing scripture—so it’s not just head knowledge, but truly ingrained in me.

Why? Because a mind left unhealed can easily slip into sin. Negative thoughts eventually shape our actions. But when God’s Word is hidden in our hearts, it strengthens us and keeps us aligned with Him.

How I’m Memorizing Scripture

Here are some tools that are helping me:

  • SOAP Journaling – I use the Love God Greatly SOAP Journal. SOAP stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. This method helps me slow down and reflect deeply.
  • Reading in Multiple Translations – Comparing translations gives fresh perspective.
  • Enduring Word App – Provides commentary and context that enrich my study.
  • Creative Memorization Tools – I write memory verses on black Post-it notes with a metallic pen and keep them nearby. Having them visible helps me rehearse them often.

Applying the Word to Everyday Life

Memorizing scripture is just the beginning. The real transformation happens when we live it out.

The Word of God changes us from the inside out. And when it changes us, we’re able to genuinely encourage and help others.

This season, I’m learning to be more open and vulnerable—even as I’m still working through things. Sharing my journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been a growing experience.

Helpful Tools for Scripture Study

  • Love God Greatly SOAP Journal – my go-to tool for journaling and memorizing verses.
  • Metallic pens & black Post-its (for scripture memory cards).

Wrapping It Up

I challenge you today: hide God’s Word in your heart.

It’s the key to renewing your mind, defending against sin, and walking in freedom. As I continue this journey of healing and growth, I’ll keep sharing what God is teaching me—hoping it encourages you on your path too.

Love you guys. Have a blessed day! 💛

If this encouraged you, share it with a friend who might need it today. And let me know in the comments how you memorize or meditate on scripture—I’d love to learn from you too!

Resources I Use

  • Love God Greatly SOAP Journal – my daily go-to for slowing down, reflecting on Scripture, and keeping my thoughts organized.
  • Black Post-it Notes + Metallic Pens – I use these to write out memory verses and keep them visible throughout the day. It’s a simple but powerful way to let the Word sink in.
  • Bible App + Enduring Word Commentary – great for reading verses in multiple translations and adding context to your study.

These are the things helping me stay rooted in Scripture and truly “hide His Word in my heart.” 💛
